Launching in 2020, TENEO will embark on a unique exploration of beauty and creation with a focus on high-end materials, functional silhouettes, and timeless garments. With attention to detail that is second to none, the upmost care is placed in the design and craftsmanship of each and every garment. Embodying the finest elements of French and Japanese materials and production, this monumental and fascinating marriage of two vast cultures define what TENEO is about and what it will become.
The existence of TENEO relies heavily on the resources made available today, rather than reinventing what is traditionally known as clothing. TENEO intends to maximise all the finest available manufacturing elements, combining them with tried and tested functional garments. It is this combination of implementing the use of centuries-old methods as well as sourcing some of the most advanced technology, that defines TENEO. What TENEO communicates is a specific aim of taking functional and utilitarian wear to a new level while injecting a sense of elegance and luxury.
TENEOとは、持つ・掴む・手を伸ばす・獲得・保持・所有・繋げる・など、手にまつわる多くの意味をもつラテン語の単語。
衣類は全く同じものであっても人それぞれ着方や思い入れが異なり、自身の考えをも表現することのできる生活に必要不可欠なプロダクト。そこにアート性や高い技術と思想の宿った職人の手による仕事が組み合わさることで、消耗品以上の価値を持つ特別なプロダクトになることができる。
この思いを背景に、複数の言語の土台になったラテン語の中から、多くの手に纏わる意味と人との関わり方の意味を持つ”TENEO”がブランド名になりました。
世界有数の卓越したもの造り技術を有する日本とフランスの職人に焦点を絞り、それぞれの特性を組み合わせることに注力。
両国の長い時代の流れの中で先人達が研鑽を重ねてきた伝統工芸を筆頭に、人の手が受け継いできた技術や価値観と現代になって確立された最新技術や素材と融合させることで、伝統的な要素を持ちながらも現代のライフスタイルに合う上質で機能的なプロダクトを創り出す。
各アイテムのスタイルベースとして、ミリタリー・ハンティング・ワーク・アウトドアなどユーティライズド(機能化)が実証されているスタイルを軸に据え、機能的なディテールを生かしたまま普段の生活で使いやすいだけでなく美しいシルエットにアップデートしています。
